The arcane trickster btw is probably the best subclass in the game or close to it. Imo they should be able to treat spells like a template for example being able to cast a cold damge fireball(which they can do with the class feature ua). They do have a unique niche with the game. I do wish sorcerers got more sorcerer points, and I think that using the spell point variant and adding sorcerer points to the pool is the best solution, but I can’t agree that sorcerers are the only class that cant do something better than other classes. Again, the idea is hacking the action economy. It should be used to cast full spells after previously casting spells that allow you to do something with your action on subsequent turns, or to do something that requires an action (wake the victim of sleep or hypnotic pattern) and still cast a spell. Quicken spell should never be used to cast a cantrip. They get so few spells of so few schools, that it is hardly a consideration. I don’t agree that what an arcane trickster gets can compete in anyway. I am OK with the sorcerer having to choose metamagics, and I agree that there are a few that unpowered and need to either be buffed or to have some new spells added with which they would synergies better. Obviously, some things are up for consideration, like the fact that a blind target would probably not percieve somatic or material components. The entire section on "Percieving a Caster at Work" pretty clearly designates that a spell with any component at all is perceptible. It doesn't state that only the verbal and somatic components need to be removed, it states the spell's components do. The words at the beginning of the sentence you quoted are: "The form of a material component doesn't matter for the purposes of perception, whether it's an object specified in the spell's description, a component pouch, or a spellcasting focus."Īnd the sentence before that: "To be perceptible, the casting of a spell must involve a verbal, somatic, or material component."įurthermore: "If the need for spell's components has been removed by a special ability, such as the sorcerer's Subtle Spell feature or the Innate Spellcasting trait possessed by many creatures, the casting of the spell is imperceptible." You seem to have completely ommitted the important part of the text, to the point where it looks like it was intentional.
